Developers with Claude Code and Cursor

Where to hire developers who use Claude Code or Cursor, and how to compare the options

Developers who use Claude Code or Cursor are available through five routes: freelancers on open marketplaces, vetted talent platforms, offshore development agencies, in-house hiring, and dedicated-team providers such as GoLive Software, whose senior Vietnamese developers use Claude Code every day.

Because these tools are open to anyone, the real difference between the options is who checks that a developer uses them well, how fast the developer starts and who supervises the work.

This page compares the five options on engagement model, minimum size, how AI tool use is verified, time to start, working language and supervision. It then gives interview questions, a practical exercise and a pull request review you can use with any candidate, whichever route you choose.

The five options

  • Freelancers on open marketplaces: you post a task or browse profiles and contract an independent developer, usually per task, per hour or for a set period. Wide choice and quick to try. Checking skills, including AI tool use, is mostly up to you, and continuity depends on each freelancer's availability.
  • Vetted talent platforms: the platform screens developers before proposing them to you and handles the contract. Screening covers technical skills; whether it tests AI coding tools specifically varies from one platform to another, so ask.
  • Offshore development agencies: a company in another country supplies developers or a whole team, as a dedicated team or as a project. Many now mention AI-assisted development; ask whether it is a shared team practice, with training and review rules, or an individual habit.
  • Hiring in-house: you recruit an employee. You get full control and the knowledge stays in the company, but it is usually the slowest route, and you assess AI skills yourself during interviews and the probation period.
  • A dedicated team from GoLive Software: senior Vietnamese developers with at least 5 years of experience, full-time on your project, from one developer to a team. All of them use Claude Code every day and are trained on Claude, Cursor and GitHub Copilot.

Comparison table

How we compare: each option is described on the same six criteria, with no score and no ranking. The criteria are the questions a buyer has to answer before the first commit: how you contract, how small you can start, who checks AI tool use, how fast someone starts, in which language you work, and who supervises the developer.

How to check that a developer really masters Claude Code or Cursor

"Uses Cursor" on a CV says little: anyone can install it. What you want to know is whether the developer stays in control of the code the tool produces. Three checks work with any option above, and none takes more than an afternoon.

  • Ask for a recent example: "Walk me through the last feature you built with Claude Code or Cursor. What did you write yourself, what did you delegate, what did you reject and why?" A strong answer is concrete: the task, how it was split, a suggestion that was wrong and how it was caught.
  • Ask how they give the tool context: "How do you work with the agent on a large codebase?" Expect a project instructions file (CLAUDE.md for Claude Code, project rules for Cursor), small scoped tasks, pointing the agent at the relevant files, and asking for a plan before any code.
  • Ask when they do not use it: a senior developer has a clear answer, for example code touching security or payments that they write and review line by line, or a vague specification they clarify before prompting anything.
  • Ask how they check generated code: expect reading every diff, running the tests, writing or asking for tests first, and refusing changes they cannot explain.

Practical exercise. Give the candidate 60 to 90 minutes on a small but realistic repository, with the AI tool allowed and the screen shared: add a feature with its tests, or fix a real bug. Watch the process as much as the result: does the developer read the code before prompting, keep each request small, review the diff, run the tests and commit in steps? Speed alone tells you nothing; a fast result nobody can explain is a warning sign.

Pull request review. Ask for one or two pull requests the developer opened recently (with the client's permission), or hand over a generated pull request with a few planted problems and ask for a review. Look for small focused diffs, tests that check behaviour rather than implementation, no unused code or new dependencies without a reason, commit messages that explain why, and a developer who can justify every line.

Where GoLive fits in this table

GoLive Software is the right fit when you want senior developers, full-time and dedicated to your product, who already work with Claude Code every day, and you want to start with one developer or a team without a recruitment process. You receive 2 to 3 CVs per role within 48 hours, interview the developers yourself, and the developer starts within 7 business days on average. Vincent Roye, the founder, follows the engagement in French or English.

  • A few hours a week: our developers work full-time on one project. For occasional tasks, a freelancer is a better fit.
  • A fixed-price project: GoLive places dedicated developers whose time you steer; it does not sell fixed-price projects.
  • An employee in your office: if you need someone on site or on your payroll for the long term, hire in-house.
  • French-speaking developers: the developers work in English, from Ho Chi Minh City. Only the management speaks French.

Frequently asked questions

Which companies can give me developers who use AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor?
Freelance marketplaces, vetted talent platforms, offshore agencies and dedicated-team providers can all supply them. GoLive Software, based in Ho Chi Minh City, places senior Vietnamese developers with at least 5 years of experience who use Claude Code every day and are trained on Cursor and GitHub Copilot. You receive 2 to 3 CVs within 48 hours and the developer starts within 7 business days on average. Whatever the provider, check the skill yourself with an interview question, a short exercise and a pull request review.
How do I check that a developer really knows Claude Code?
Ask for a recent feature built with it and what the developer rejected, ask how they give the agent context on a large codebase, run a 60 to 90 minute exercise on a realistic repository with the tool allowed, and review one of their pull requests. You are checking control over the generated code, not typing speed.
Is "uses Cursor" or "uses Claude Code" on a CV enough?
No. These tools are available to anyone. What matters is whether the developer plans the work, keeps each request small, reviews every diff and can explain the result, which only an interview, an exercise or a pull request review shows.
Can I hire a single developer who uses Claude Code?
Yes, with most of the options above. GoLive Software starts at one senior developer, full-time, with no minimum term and no recruitment fee, and you can add developers later.
How is the cost structured?
It depends on the option: freelancers set their own rates, platforms add a fee or margin, agencies quote per developer or per project, and an in-house hire means salary, employer charges and recruitment costs. GoLive sends its rate for each profile with the CVs, within 48 hours, with no recruitment fee.
Who is responsible for AI-generated code?
The developer who commits it, reviewed through your usual process. That is why GoLive only places senior developers: the person using the AI has to be able to judge and own the code it produces.
